The excitement is building across the Overstrand as the voting lines are now open for Gansbaai, the Western Cape’s finalist, in kykNET’s Kwêla Town of the Year 2026 competition.
Gansbaai is competing against Hartbeespoort (North West), Kei Mouth (Eastern Cape), Howick (KwaZulu-Natal), Bethlehem (Free State), Hopetown (Northern Cape), Mokopane (Limpopo), Secunda (Mpumalanga) and Gobabis (Namibia) for the coveted Kwêla Dorp van die Jaar title.
Voting is open from 12 to 17 July 2026 (at 12:00), and every vote could help Gansbaai take top honours.
We’re also calling on our neighbouring municipalities, everyone with a connection to the Overstrand, regular weekend visitors, friends, family, outdoor enthusiasts, and anyone who has fond memories of Gansbaai and its surrounding towns to get behind our community. Cast your vote and show South Africa what makes not only Gansbaai and the Overstrand, but the entire Western Cape so special.

HOW TO VOTE:
1. Save Kwela as a contact on your phone. Number is 33157.
2. Send an SMS with one word typed “Gansbaai”.
3. SMS’s are charged at R1.50 each. SMS bundles do not count so if you have free SMS’s on your phone package please load airtime to vote.
The overall winner will be announced on Kwêla on Sunday, 2 August 2026.
