Overstrand Municipality stands ready to assist Eskom teams to speed up the repair process.
Because Eskom management is holding internal planning and feedback sessions on Mondays, official updates are coming in slowly. However, Eskom technicians are out in the field working on the lines.
Here is the latest information:
Hangklip Area (Day 15)
The Hangklip area is now entering its 15th day without electricity. Just before lunchtime today, Pringle Bay, Betty’s Bay, and Rooiels lost power again.
If you want to track progress on the Eskom Chatbot, please use these reference numbers:
Pringle Bay: 1172568339
Betty’s Bay (Jock’s Bay area): 1173114666 (This is for the faulty power line on High Level Road affecting Youldon and Protea Roads)
Cape Nature: 1172095594 and 1171004491
Stanford Farms
There is progress along the R43. Eskom has asked the Municipality for a digger loader to help them start replacing broken power poles..
Hemel-en-Aarde Valley
There is currently no Estimated Time of Restoration (ETR) for the Valley.
The Overstrand Municipality is ready to help Eskom with a digger, a cherry picker, and electrical teams to fix the network while they wait for the power line to be redirected.
However, there is a massive amount of work to do. On top of the physical damage, severe cable theft in the area will unfortunately slow down the repair efforts.
