Status: The fire has not yet been contained.
The two fires are still burning actively.
We currently have the following active lines:
• One in Pearly Beach,
• Another in Uilkraalsmond, and
• Another at Koude Vlakte (Avoca) near Stanford
At the fire in Uilkraalsmond, the perimeter remains hot in the dense alien vegetation, and the fire lines continue to burn and creep.
The objective is to keep the fire out of dense vegetation. A specialised team will be deployed to that line later this evening.
At Byeneskrans, the fire was confined to a block. Aerial resources were used to divert the fire away from structures, and aggressive mop-up operations were conducted.
We can confirm that structures have been lost; however, we cannot confirm exactly how many at this stage.
Damage assessments will commence once all lines are contained and mopping-up operations begin on the active lines.
Any flare-ups could potentially place additional structures in the path of the fire at risk.
At present, it is estimated that a total of more than 33 000 hectares have burned in Pearly Beach, with just over 4 000 hectares burned in the Stanford fire.
It is estimated that the fires have cost us between R6 to R7 million since 4 January 2026.
