Get ready for the official ribbon-cutting of the Chelsea Flowers in Stanford exhibit – the headline act of the vibrant, full-colour ‘Stanford in Bloom‘ festival, opening on Wednesday, 10 September 2025.
The opening event will take place at 08:30 on Queen Victoria Street, outside the Chelsea Flower building and opposite the Overstrand Municipal offices.
Overstrand Deputy Mayor Elnora Gillion, Minister of Local Government Anton Bredell, Leon Kluge, Tristan Woudberg, and Michael Lutzeyer from Grootbos will be present, along with special guest John Maytham from CapeTalk Radio.
The public is welcome to attend and enjoy special performances by local singer, Nolundi Nonono and renowned South African poet, Siphokazi Jonas, who has written a special poem for the occasion.
At 09:00, the doors to the Chelsea Flowers exhibit will open, unveiling the much-anticipated display of more than 25 000 stems of fynbos in Leon’s kloof-like design – open to those who have bought tickets.
If you can’t attend in person, don’t miss John Maytham’s CapeTalk radio show, Drive Time, broadcasting live from inside the Chelsea Flower exhibit on 10 September from 15:00 – 18:00. Tune in and make sure you listen to the radio to soak up some of the spring fynbos vibrations from Stanford!
Alongside the main exhibit, Stanford in Bloom will also offer the special market on the village green, featuring a mini-garden competition, scarecrow walk, talks, demonstrations, art, shopping, food and drink, and performances by local entertainers.
All are welcome to the official opening to ”Stanford in Bloom” which remains open from 10 – 24 September.
