Overstrand Tops the Podium again

Once again, Overstrand Municipality has been recognised for outstanding performance in water quality and wastewater management, with the Infrastructure Services Directorate winning 1st place in the Best Municipal Technical Site Assessment 2025 for the Hawston Wastewater Treatment Plant on 31 March 2026.

The award was presented at the event where Water and Sanitation Minister Pemmy Majodina released the Green Drop Report, alongside progress reports on the Blue Drop and No Drop programmes, providing a comprehensive update on South Africa’s drinking water quality, service provision, and wastewater management.
Overstrand Executive Mayor, Ald Archie Klaas, praised Director Stephen Muller, Hanré Blignaut and their team for their dedication and consistent delivery of high-quality services.

He assured residents that the Municipality remains committed to building on this achievement and ensuring that communities continue to benefit from reliable, sustainable water and sanitation services.

The Green Drop, Blue Drop, and No Drop programmes are key national assessments that track municipal performance in wastewater management, drinking water quality, and water use efficiency.

They recognise top-performing municipalities, highlight areas for improvement, and guide support where it is needed.

Overstrand Municipality’s continued success reflects its dedication to service excellence and sustainable management, ensuring residents can rely on safe and efficient water services.
