What a wonderful way to start the new school year, with the news that Overberg schools are the top-performing district in the Western Cape and have ranked third in the country, achieving a 92.36% pass rate in the National Senior Certificate (NSC) examinations.
Closer to home, we commend the high schools in the Overstrand for their matric results. The following pass rates were recorded:
* Northcliff House College: 90.9% pass rate
* Curro Hermanus: 100% IEB pass rate
* Generation School: 100% Cambridge pass rate
* Hermanus High School: 100% pass rate
* Qhayiya Secondary School: 89.5% pass rate
* Gansbaai Academia: 95.8% pass rate
* Hawston Secondary School: 85% pass rate
* Fisherhaven Academy: No matric class as yet
Completing your matric year is an important milestone that reflects the effort you have put in over the years. Along the way, you have faced personal challenges and moments of uncertainty and pressure, but your hard work has now paid off.
Overstrand Executive Mayor Archie Klaas, said: “We are proud of the Matric Class of 2025 and congratulate our learners on successfully completing their final year of school. We encourage you to move forward with confidence, purpose and humility as you take the next steps in your journey.”
To those learners who did not achieve the results they had hoped for, please remember that this is not the end of the road. Every setback offers an opportunity to grow, learn, and try again.
As our youngest learners begin Grade 1, others start Grade 8, and children across all grades return to school after the summer holiday, we wish everyone every success for the year ahead.
On behalf of the Overstrand Municipality, I would like to wish all learners in the Overstrand, as well as our principals and teachers, a productive and successful school year.
