As reported on social media, a march advocating against the employment of undocumented foreign nationals by businesses will take place in Hermanus on Saturday and Sunday, 27 and 28 June 2026.

On Saturday, the march is scheduled to commence at the Zwelihle Sports Grounds at 10:00. The planned route will proceed along Still Street towards the New Harbour, turn left into Westcliff/Marine Drive, and conclude at the Waterfront near the Old Harbour. The return route is expected to follow the R43 (Main Road), with the peaceful march anticipated to conclude by approximately 15:00.

At this stage, no confirmed arrangements are available for Sunday’s march. The organisers have advised that planning for Day 2 will depend on how Saturday’s march progresses. Further information will be communicated as soon as it has been confirmed.

The management of the march falls under the responsibility of the South African Police Service (SAPS), not the Municipality. Overstrand Municipality’s role will be to provide support to SAPS and Public Order Policing (POP) where required.

Overstrand Municipality will deploy resources in support of SAPS and POPS along the route throughout the march. In the event of an emergency, please contact the HPP Control Centre 087 550 5295 or the Fire & Rescue Control Room on 028 312 2400, or the Hermanus Police Station 028 313 5300.

Residents, businesses and visitors are advised to take note of the planned activity and to expect possible traffic disruptions along the route during these times.

Businesses are reminded that the decision to trade during this period remains at their own discretion, particularly restaurants and other establishments with outdoor seating on public pavements.

According to the organisers, the march will be conducted peacefully.
