Repatriation process in the Overstrand (ICC Update – 6 June 2026)

In this morning’s update from the Incident Command Centre (ICC) regarding the ongoing repatriation of undocumented foreign nationals:

Transportation

  • Kleinmond: The three buses that departed yesterday from the Kleinmond Town Hall are currently en route to the Lindela Repatriation Centre for undocumented foreign nationals awaiting deportation. The holding facility operates under the authority of the Department of Home Affairs (DHA).
  • Gansbaai: Two buses transporting individuals from Gansbaai are also traveling to the Lindela Repatriation Centre in Krugersdorp, near Johannesburg, where they will be processed.
  • Hermanus: A remaining group of 38 displaced persons is currently situated at the Municipal Farm.
  • Stanford: The bus, organised by the Mozambican Embassy, has arrived and is at he community hall to transport the Mozambican citizens.

Private households or faith-based organisations currently housing foreign nationals from Mozambique or other countries must make their own private transport and repatriation arrangements.

The Municipal Manager, Dr. Dean O’Neill, confirmed that the municipality’s facilities will not be reopened to accommodate people as the venues will now be prepared for the voters’ registration weekend of 20 and 21 June 2026.
