Remembering our colleague Lukas Kaptein

Overstrand Municipality is saddened by the loss of one of its longest serving staff members, Lukas Kaptein, who died of COVID-19 related symptoms on Friday 8 January 2021.

Lukas, aged 58, was working as a Supervisor Driver at the Water & Sewerage Department in Hermanus. He started working for the Municipality in 1993 and died after 28 years’ service. He was supposed to retire at the end of the month.

He will be sorely missed and will be remembered as a vibrant and cheerful person who made time for a quick chat and a joke.

A drive-past

On Friday 15 January 2021 at 18:00, those who want, can drive to the Hawston informal parking area (Hawston Pleintjie) just off the R43. From there colleagues and friends will pay their last respects by forming a guard of honour in their vehicles to drive past his house in Ebenezer Road.
