Mayor Rabie’s message for the new school year

Mayor Rabie’s message for the new school year

It’s back to school time again for hundreds of pre-primary, primary and high school learners across the Overstrand as they begin the 2024 school year.

For many it will be a rather emotional, yet joyful occasion, when they are welcomed to the big school as grade 1 or 8 learners. It can be daunting for both children and parents, but it marks the start of an exciting new chapter.

We have dedicated teachers and great schools in the Overstrand – but none of it would matter unless all of you do your part as dedicated learners supported by committed teachers. This means, amongs others, showing up at school on time, paying attention to teachers, listening to your parents and putting in the hard work that is required to succeed.

A good education lays the foundation for realising your future goals and success in whatever career you want to pursue.  Take this year seriously and make use of the opportunity that education can provide for a successful future.

As the Mayor Overstrand Municipality, I wish you a school year filled with new discoveries and exciting challenges. All the best in your new grade and all the best to those learners who will be doing their matric.  It is important that you work hard all year to ensure good grades and guarantee access to higher education facilities.

On behalf of Overstrand Municipality, I extend my best wishes to the Matric class of 2023 who are awaiting their results and hope than your hard work and dedication has paid off.
