President Cyril Ramaphosa announced that South Africa’s Covid-19 restrictions would be lowered as the country moved to an adjusted level 2 lockdown from Monday, 13 September 2021.
The Overstrand Municipality will accept applications for any events or gatherings at any of the following places, with immediate effect:
• municipal public open spaces
• sports grounds
• parks
• amphitheatres
• roads and
• road reserves
• community halls and auditorium
This decision was made based on decline in COVID-19 infections in the Overstrand municipal area; the fact that there is an increase in the number of people vaccinated and sufficient vaccines are available, as well as the number of people allowed for outdoor gatherings now set at 500.
“We must, however, reiterate that outdoor activities at any of the above mentioned venues are difficult to manage and may result in super spreader of the virus events. Therefore, organisers who apply for events, must show clearly that they are able to control the crowds and comply with the health protocols required”, Municipal Manager, Dean O’ Neill said.
Residents are reminded to ensure compliance with all COVID-19 protocols issued in terms of the amended Regulations, Disaster Management Act, 2002.
You can play your part by washing and sanitising your hands regularly, wearing your mask correctly and maintaining a safe social distance and most importantly, getting yourself vaccinated.
