Overstrand Municipality’s annual herbicide spraying programme is currently underway in Greater Hermanus, with teams working across various areas to control weeds on hard surfaces such as road verges, roadsides, sidewalks, paved areas and road reserves.
The next area scheduled for spraying is Westcliff, from 2 to 9 September 2026.
The programme will then continue in the following areas:
* Sandbaai: 10-17 September 2026
* Onrus (Chanteclair and parts of Berghof): 18-25 September 2026
* Vermont: 28 September-2 October 2026
* Hawston: 5-9 October 2026
* Fisherhaven: 12-16 October 2026
* Mount Pleasant: 19-23 October 2026
* Zwelihle: 26-30 October 2026
The programme is subject to weather conditions, and no herbicide will be applied during rainy or wet conditions. The schedule may be adjusted where necessary.
Residents are requested to keep children and pets away from treated areas until the spray has dried completely.
Approved herbicides are being applied by trained and authorised personnel to help control weed growth, protect infrastructure and keep public areas neat and well maintained.
