First Thursday – THANK YOU HERMANUS

First Thursday – THANK YOU HERMANUS

Onrus/Vermont residents made the most of last night’s First Thursday outreach in Hermanus to voice the increasing frustration of many who have found themselves on the wrong end of young motorbike riders riding recklessly in the area and posing a possible danger to both them and the community at large.

A constructive engagement between the group of concerned residents and business owners and the Deputy Mayor and Portfolio Head of Protection Services, Lindile Ntsabo, and Neville Michaels, Director of Protection Services ensued.

To that end, a number of material issues were brought to the fore; it further set the path for further engagement in the way ahead with the express intent of formulating possible interventions that may be needed to realise a measure of remedy to the situation at hand.

Overstrand Executive Mayor, Dr Annelie Rabie said the purpose of these engagements are the ideal platform for residents to meet with her and the Mayoral Committee as political heads of the respective departments (directorates) as well as the Municipal Manager and Directors on the administrative side who will assist with technical advice.

She once again encourages the community to make time for First Thursdays to ask any question; whether there are situations which make them happy or issues about which they are unhappy; or even have a proposal – First Thursdays is the place to do it.
