Emergency Siren Test for Liquified Petroleum Gas Depot set for Friday

A bulk Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG) depot will soon be opening its doors in Hermanus.

The Gas Hub bulk storage facility is located in Hermanus Business Park in Argon Road, Sandbaai.

One of the major hazard installation regulations require that the siren must be tested before the establishment officially opens.

The siren test is scheduled for Friday, 5 April 2024 between 12:00 – 13:00. The siren will be audible within an estimated 5km radius from the location of the facility. It is a very annoying sound and will last for 1 minute. Residents should take note and not be alarmed.

Overstrand Fire & Rescue, with Gas Hub bulk storage facility will in the near future be conducting evacuation exercises to ensure that both the facility and Fire Services are ready in the event of an incident.
