The High Court application challenging the tender award and lease agreement for the former De Mond Caravan Park in Voëlklip as a public resort has been withdrawn on 29 August 2026.

The legal challenge in court had placed the development process on hold, as Point Caravan Resort (Pty) Ltd could not reasonably be expected to incur costs while the tender award and lease agreement were being challenged.

With the application now withdrawn, Point Caravan Resort can proceed with the required town-planning application(s) for its proposed development at De Mond.

 

The Municipality will provide information on the proposed development once the relevant applications have been received, and the public participation process has been initiated.

The public will have an opportunity to comment through the required public participation process following receipt of a valid land use application. This process is triggered by the relevant planning applications and will take place before any development can proceed.

What may ultimately be developed and operated on the site will depend on the approvals obtained through the planning process.
