The information in the Final IDP review 2025/26 on page 100 regarding the management of public launching sites in Overstrand is not up to date. It reflects older details, suggesting that certain slipways, including Maanschynbaai Slipway in Hangklip (and others), should be de-registered.
However, the latest approved Mayoral Committee’s resolution in April 2025 states that these sites are still under review, and that no final de-registration or closure has occurred. The recommendation specifically notes that the Maanschynbaai Slipway (Hangklip) should remain registered.
The office of the relevant Minister has been informed accordingly, and we are awaiting the official notice to be published in the provincial government gazette.
Unfortunately, the outdated information in the IDP can only be corrected with the review next year. Residents should be aware that the status of these slipways remains open.
We advise all interested parties to refer to the latest official communications and upcoming notices in the Provincial Gazette for the most accurate and current information.
