Three suspects were arrested during an intelligence-driven operation on the evening of 28 September 2026 in connection with alleged cable theft in the Overstrand area.

The suspects may be linked to a number of recent cable theft incidents in Voëlklip. The arrests were made in front of the Hermanus Police Station.

Overstrand Executive Mayor, Alderman Archie Klaas, applauded the team effort behind the arrests, highlighting the vital role played by law enforcement, external partners and members of the public whose information and cooperation helped make the arrests possible.

He encouraged residents to continue reporting suspicious activity, as further arrests may follow as information is received and investigated.

“Our message to cable thieves is simple: don’t steal cable. We will catch you,” he added.
